Could use some advise. Been working on a '48 Super A. Have put on new front seal, gaskets, wiring harness, belts, changed all fluids and thought I was done. Had been working fine before except for bad leak around main front seal. Now, after either idling or running under a load for a few minutes, it dies. Seems like it is starving for fuel. Could be the opposite - flooding. Getting some light smoke from the exhaust. Don't remember this before. Cleaned sediment bowl and fuel line screen and found a lot of rust in both. Seemed to help but then it stopped again. Pulled the carb expecting bad float... no problems seen. Adjusted the carb before this but didn't seem to help. Wasn't having this problem before I worked on it. Typical! What am I missing? Any other suggestions? Haven't reinstalled the carb yet. It is a Zenith and the dealer doesn't have a rebuild kit in stock. Help is appreciated.
