Hi Bender, do you mean the cap screws on the injection pump drive gear that connects to the hub on the injection pump? Do you think that the injection pump drive gear jumped out of time with the timing gear? If it didn't then you have a 1 in 6 chance of getting the timing somewhat close. I can email you the static adjustment from my I&T shop manual for 684 which has same timing as 784.

You can do the try & try again method. A few years ago my brother changed the front lip seal on his 454 and then he complained it was hard to start and wasn't running correctly. I had been away for a while and when I went to visit him and he started it up I could tell it was not timed correctly. I asked him how he took the injection pump off and he had taken the cap screws out before he realized all he had to do was remove the nut on the drive shaft. I retimed the injection pump by setting the cap screws in the middle of the slot and by trying to start the engine. If it is timed to fast it will kick back on the starter and if timed to slow the starter will have to crank the engine several times before it will start. When the engine is warm and timed correctly the engine will start within one revolution.
JimB If you want the static timing, my email is clarabrownlee$rogers.com but replace the $ with @.

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
