After taking voltage reads on the coil on the IH 464, I am totally confused (which doesn't take much!!). The 464 has a 12-volt negative ground system. Has a 12 volt battery, alternator, lighting, etc. When I read the voltage going at the coil (which is a 12volt coil), it reads a little over 7 volts going to the + side of the coil. Should the coil on the tractor be a six-volt coil ? It is a 1973 model, and couldn't help but wonder. Is the ballast resistor designed to drop the primary voltage so it can perform on a 6-volt coil and ignition system. Anyone know where a person could get a picture or a schematic of the ignition system wiring for a 464 ? Confused about losing my spark !!! Thanks.
