Correct Battery Hookup

Posted by Big Boys and Their Toys on April 30, 2001 at 19:16:38 from (207.239.97.193):

I have just bought a real nice Farmall Model "C", and my buddy bought a Farmall Model "A".

We found these tractors in Western Maryland.
The man sold them to us for $350.00 each.
Neither one of them are stuck, the man said that they both were running when he placed them in the shed about 4 years ago.

Neither one of them has a battery installed.
They should require a 6 volt battery, I believe.
I need to make sure of the proper terminal connection for these units.

I am not sure if they require a negative or positive ground.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are going to register our tractors on this site, after we find out the specs about them year made and so fourth.

We took pictures of these tractors as we found them, and are going to keep a scrapbook of pictures and text about them.

They have now been given a early retirement, and will be restored for farm shows, parades, etc.

We will probaby be back for more advice (and without a doubt will need it), everybody seems to be so helpful on this site towards others.

I think that we really got a good deal.
Both are in very good condition, all metal is straight without dents, very little if any rust, motors will turn, tires on both units are in super good condition, both are are totaly complete.

I think that we will have these units running again by Friday, or at least we hope to.

Thanks
The Big Boys With Little Toys
