Thanks for any help. : : Sounds like the belt could be routed wrong which is causing it to work against itself. Try having the guy you bought it from look at it. Is your engine strong (powerful). Are you using the correct diameter drive pulley. Check these items and let us know it it works. Good luck. : Well, I am using the same pulleys as came with it, I assume they are the right ones. I will check the belt routing, but we did tie the rear part of the belt together with string so as not to get it messed up when I reinstalled it. The motor was rebuilt, so it should be strong. I have a blade for the front that I use for snow and light dirt removal and it seems to have good power. I will check the belt again and make sure it is right. I didn't remove the front part that routes through the blade pulleys, just loosened the rear idlers and removed the belt from the tractor, so it should be okay. Will check and verify. I cut pieces out of an old mud flap to make side covers. They also do a good job of stopping flying objects.
