: : : : I have a Farmall Super A that I replaced the manifold on and now won't run except with the choke all the way out. I have put a new carb on, checked everything I can find. What did I do, it ran much better with the cracked manifold. Thanks in advance for any help.

: : : sounds like a leak around the intake manifold
: : : get it started and spray small amount of starting fluid
: : : around intake if you have a leak the engine will
: : : speed up-------

: : Or use a small propane torch ; its a little safer around a hot manifold and easier to regulate and direct the gas .

: Unlit propane torch I hope.

: I have used aerosol carb cleaner with good results
: the plastic pipe lets you direct the spray and you
: know where you're spraying.

: Cleans grease off the engine as a side benefit.

Thanks for the advice guys, I tried the propane thing but no results. FINALLY took the brand new rebuilt carb apart and found a orfice (jet?) at the very bottom of the bowl had not been replaced or even cleaned and was plugged solid. cleaned it out and tractor runs great. Thanks again for the advice, saved me from pulling a perfectly good manifold off. John
