Used to buy a lot of stuff from EBay, up til a couple years ago.
Got an email alert one day advising me of a purchase paid by PayPal. Knowing I hadn't bid on anything I checked my PayPal account and lo and behold someone had used my account to purchase and download $300.00 worth of I-Tunes. Contacted PayPal via their dispute resolution form and stated I had not purchased any thing. It took them a day to respond via email that they would look into it and let me know in 15 days. In the meantime I checked the Mastercard account that was associated with PayPal and found the $300.00 charge on the account.
Calling Mastercard I was told that since the charge was handled by PayPal they were the ones who had to handle the charge/credit, that it was out of Mastercard's hands.
While waiting for PayPal( 15 days), they hit me for another $300.00 that was instantly processed and charged to my Mastercard.
The only recourse was to close the Mastercard account to stop these unauthorized charges. I ended up paying the Mastercard account.
PayPal finally fiqured out that the charges weren't mine, i.e. someone had hacked my PayPal account. They are telling me that since I closed the Mastercard account they have no place to put the credit. WILL NOT send me a check and have locked the PayPal account so I can't even access it.
That $600.00 is the last $600.00 Ebay or PayPal will ever see of mine. I hope they are doing something worthwhile with it!!!!!
Any vendor, any where, who stipulates that payment must be made with or thru PayPal will not get my business.
Actually I have found Amazon.com to be my source for most things bought over the internet. Good people, good products, and so far, not the first hint of impropriety on any ones part.
