As soon as you are actually laid off, get yourself in to apply for the benefits that will keep things going.
Apply for unemployment benefits immediately. You have a wait before you get paid for not working and you need to get the clock running on that.
Apply for food stamps and WIC for the wife and baby. Those are US Agricultural Department programs that keep people from going hungry.
Like the others said, look at your expenses and also look around at what you own that you might not really need right now. You have time to make some changes that will keep you better off when you are back at work.
