: OK, I'am going to get a manual this afternoon!
: But in the mean time...Just did the std. plugs, dist., cap @ rotor, points, condenser and wires. Also replaced fuel filter. Tractor runs smoothly but has no power. Rolls but will barely pull a shredder. ???
: I did remove the distributor as it is a front-mount. Have I disturbed the timing? Where is the adjusment done where and timing marks.
: I also note that the govorner does not give extra uummph under a load like it did before. Finally is there a precise way to adjust and confirm your fuel mixture in not too lean or rich. If someone out there is patient enough to tell me these things, I will never have to ask again. Thanks in advance to the benevolent (who have the time).
Bill, The distributer won't go in wrong as it makes no difference which way it goes back. The timing is done on the Port side of the distributer and has marks on it. I know of no precice way to adjust the fuel mixture except the old fashened way of turning the mixture screw in untill it begins to lose RPM's and back it off a quarter turn or so. One thing I would try though is to check your compression. Pull the plugs and hold your finger over the hole and make sure it will push your finger away as it turns over, (a compression guage is better) You may have a stuck valve or as I had last year, 2 of them on cylinders 1&3, ran fine but would not pull a setting hen off a nest. Good luck, Dan Johnson

Today's Featured Article - Field Modifications (Sins of the Farmer) - by Staff. Picture a new Chevrolet driving down the street without it's grill, right fender and trunk lid. Imagine a crude hole made in the hood to accommodate a new taller air cleaner, the fender wells cut away to make way for larger tires, and half of a sliding glass door used to replace the windshield. Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a ...
