I had a pressure washer and the oil started foaming. Come to find out a few drops of water got past an o-ring. Water + heat + oil = foam. Had to replace the pump.
Not saying your problem isn't bad oil. Sometimes changing the oil to a different brand may solve the problem, because you got rid of the water in the bottom of the gear box when you chainged the oil or you got rid of the crappy oil.
I would drain everything and look for water, expecially if you keep your mower outside.
