: I have a 1969 4 cyl. gas tractor. The Owners manuel says use SAE 30 or use 20w 40. Other people tell me to use
: 15w40 or 20w50 Im in Maine and its in the 70s and 80s in the summer. What is the best grade of oil I should use in the summer and what should I use in the Winter when its below zero a-lot?
: Thanks
If you are using the trac quite a bit, go with the last guy's recomendation. Straight 30 in the summer, and 10W-30 in the winter. For infrequently used machines, 15W-40 is a good compromise if you don't want to change oil just for winter cold weather. I ran it in my Yahama motorcycle as a compromise oil. When they came out with SJ rated oil, I just gave up and went to straight 10W-40.
Think Chevron Delo is available in 15W-40 wt. It has an excellent reputation for protecting motors.
