O.K. guys, lets here some input on oil

I have a 1969 4 cyl. gas tractor. The Owners manuel says use SAE 30 or use 20w 40. Other people tell me to use
15w40 or 20w50 Im in Maine and its in the 70s and 80s in the summer. What is the best grade of oil I should use in the summer and what should I use in the Winter when its below zero a-lot?
