I've had 2 14T's and then 2 24T's. Although there are visual similarities, there is a world of difference in safety and reliability and making firm bales in the 24T. For parts availability, you'd be better off by a long shot with the 24. Just check the price of a needle for the 14 vs 24 at your JD dealer. Many parts for the 14 are NLA.
I know nothing about the 214 and 224.
The next big improvement in JD balers was the 336. It kind of became the standard that others were measured against.
Then later, the 327 and the 328 which I think are still current production. They have had about 20 years of production. I currently have both the 327 and 328. The 328 has a wider pickup and more capacity. They are both very good balers.
