4 days after hail storm I had an agronomist look at my beans. There was already some new leaf buds starting and he determined it would probably yield from 8 to 10 bpa. So I decided to slide hitch over on tractor and plant some new rows 6" beside bad ones. It finally dried up enough that I planted 34 of the 70 this am. But low and behold half of them that he thought were going to make it and had new growth have now died off so I am taking the field cult out this after noon and dig the rest up and start over because it was very hard to plant in that ground as it is packed hard from the large hail stones and driving rain. So by digging it up, yes I am destroying all hope of old ones but I will have a nice mellow seed bed to plant into. I don't know why I am telling you this. Maybe just makes me feel better to talk about it. I know when I went out with planter the adrenalin started pumping and I feel better knowing I am at least doing something. Wife keeps reminding me that we are far better off then many as we have our health and can always plant some more beans next year.
