I have been on Medicare now for about 8 years, it is good, no real complaints, but it is not free. They take $96 a month from each (wife) and I. We both carry suplemental insurance, $199 and $150, plus $43 for her plan D and I am in the VA plan. Then you add in what prescriptions cost that are not covered. We hit the so called donut hole last year on her plan, hope we don't this year. When you add it all up it takes over 40 percent of our fixed income, so that is why I still turn a few wrenches. She spent a month in hosp a few years ago and it pretty well paid it all so no complaints about that. We do need an overhaul of the medical field but I don't have the answer as to just what it is.
