Your rellie is partially correct, the easiest ones to find parts for are the N series Fords, the JDs, more recent Masseys, and the Farmalls. And I have Fords, Farmalls, and MMs. Something draws me to the MMs as well, but my focus has been the ZB and UB models from 1953. My UB is the "Special" with factory power steering, and some other neat features, but it is definitely tough to find parts for. I need a particular steering part that I have looked for 2 years and have not found one yet. The ZB has been much easier to find parts for, and it has not needed much. By comparison, the Fords and Farmalls are so common that there is a huge market for aftermarket parts. I could probably get anything I'd ever need in about 1 week or less.
But I still like my Molines. There are collector clubs for MMs, maybe one in your area. There are 2 big national clubs with both winter and summer conventions. This YT website has a MM forum that is visited by many very knowledgable people, and they are willing to help. (And the other brands have similar forums as well).
The 4 Star and the 445 MM are both well respected tractors, and very marketable if you should change your mind. So I invite you to "go for it", but maybe you want to read and ask a few questions over on the MM forum right here on the YT website first. You will be welcomed to participate.
