We just got back from attending my youngest neices high school graduation . She graduated from the same high school that I graduated from on May 28, 1993 . It's hard to believe that it's been 17 years since I myself was graduating from there . All kinds of thoughts were going through my mind as I set there and looked around the gym. I noticed how it had changed in the 17 years that I have been gone . They now have air conditioning in there , didn't when I attended all my 4 years there. My sister , her mom , was among the first high school graduates that graduated from there in 1975. They didn't even have a gym back then . They recieved their diplomas on the football field. Part of the school , including the gym was still under construction at that time. As I listened to all the graduating students make their inspirational speeches to their classmates , it reminded me of all the speeches that I heard 17 years ago that were more or less just like theirs . Sad part is that like most kids that age , I thought that I'd be successful in life and go places and see the world. Now 17 years later , nothing much has changed . I still live in my home town , drive a 1993 model car and work in a nasty factory . Oh well, it's a good honest living , but still I still remember my dreams . Maybe some day they will come true. On a side not , a guy that I was friends with in high school and graduated with stared a week after I did at work in my same department . He's sort of in the same boat that I am . Nice to see that I'm not the only one, though. Oh well, as Jerry Reed said in one of his old songs - " So What If All of Your Dreams You Haven't Realized , You've Got A whole New Day To Try. " - Like I said - Maybe Someday.
