Here in Tx private developers have been successful in perverting the law of eminent domain and getting the govt to foreclose on homeowners' property for private development (claiming the public will benefit).
At the end of the last legislative session, the Tx legislature passed a law that closed that loophole and would prevent that from happening anymore.
At the 11th hour, Gov. Perry vetoed the law. There was nothing anyone could do because the legislative session was over. To override the veto would require a special session. Only the gov can call a special session. Do you think Perry called a special session so they could override the veto?
Then between sessions, Perry signs a contract with Spain for a super highway toll road through the middle of Tx! Luckily contract got voided. Would have been the biggest land grab since Tx became a state. Over 600,000 acres would have been confiscated to build this road.
Also, our illustrious gov is not above using his position to get even. James and I both work for state funded community colleges. The state pays our salaries and our health care. Seems there were some community colleges in south Tx that did not support Perry when he ran for a second term. To get even, he also vetoed the funding bill for our health care. Also at the 11th hour so the legislature could not override the veto. Luckily the state government "finagled" a way to pay it. This is not a case of "no harm, no foul".
I doubt if Perry's reason for carrying a gun has anything to do with coyotes.
