Larry.........didn't mean to offend you or anyone else; the phrase is not mine (though I've used it); it's been used here many dozens (hundreds???) of times over the last 10-12 years or so. I've always been amused by it. There are some full-time farmers, some part-time farmers, some folks who grew up on a farm or whose grandparents farmed, some who are interested in the lifestyle, some who like old tractors/equipment, some mechanics, some who own property, etc. who post on/frequent these forums. I've made some great friends on 'here', though I've never laid eyes on but 2 of 'em. In addition to the above, there are the "yuppies, wannabee farmers and small-time gardeners." BY THEIR POSTS, YE SHALL KNOW THEM!!!! I've got a wry sense of humor; things that require some......what used to be called.......common sense seem to be much lacking. I find it better to be amused rather than frustrated. I don't think (could be wrong) that I've ever called any INDIVIDUAL one of the things that offended you. My apologies to you, but it's very probable that I'll continue using the phrase.
I frequent some other forums........woodworking, cooking, stained glass, electrical, logging, sawmilling and maybe a couple more; those are things I have an interest in and some of it goes back several decades, but I tend to 'tread lightly' on those other forums. The old-timers tend to be much more crotchety than on here. I'm a soon-to-be 66 year old retired farmer/cattleman; except for military service, I've never done anything (that paid) but farm. Yesterday's Tractors is my on-line home; you can probably catch me here this afternoon and tomorrow........
