the eraser wheel might hurt new paint if the paint is still "green"and it may be easy to slip if you are not used to using one. I would use the hair dryer idea.A heat gun may be too hot. I have done that many times while working at an Awards/trophy company. We used some really strong double sided adhesives to hold on engraving plates on some plaques. if we put down a plate and got it crooked or found a typo in the engraving the plate had to come off or trash the whole plaque. We started using a heat gun and it worked great but is easy to scorch the surrounding area if not careful. So I would say the best thing you can use is a hair dryer and peel the decal off VERY SLOWLY.Let the heat soften up the glue on the decal and take your time so you don't take up the paint with the decal. A slow steady pull works best , and if you watch where it is stuck to the paint you can see it release and judge on whether to pull harder or not. clean up any glue that is left with mineral spirits. Use only enough heat to let the decal release and remove the heat so the paint won't soften. Good luck with it
