Adam,
Your tire pressure will vary depending on what the track conditions are and the type of tires you have. In my locale tractor pulling is a blood thirsty sport. The other gentleman is correct with the physics of the drawbar length and its effects on how it pulls up your front end, however I would not advise hooking your tractor to a tree to test it, not a safe idea. If you have an implement you can hook to your tractor with a chain to simulate the pulling sled, that would work. I have also pulled another tractor of a larger size running it in a lower gear than the one your pulling with to load the puller. Your front wheels should just be off the ground for maximum traction, an inch is about just right, to far up you lose drawbar height and the front of the pulling sled will drag harder, or if the front tires stay glued to the ground and carry the front of the tractor during the pull you will lose traction by not having that added weight on the rear wheels. I hope that this helps you a little bit, good luck with your pulling.
