Still trying to figure out the direction of the "vent". Is it about the "dude" providing a service for fee or the people who appear to be turning down a free cd??? There are a few who prefer the "real Mc Coy" to compliment their tractor or implement and a cd just doesn't cut it. Yes , they should at least acknowlege your offer and thank out if not wanted , I agree! I buy and sell a few "originals" now and then and keep a select few for myself. These people want the originals! Not re-prints or cd,s. Usually a person with a 60-70 yr old machine wants a 60-70 yr old manual to go with it. I don't get rich off mine , avg price is around $22-$28 and that includes shipping. That's a bargain in anybodys book for a paper manual that was made at the same time as the machine it represents and has stood the test of time and still remains in excellent shape. Also the average age of my

buyers is probably 55---60 yrs old! They are not into "cd,s"! they want to sit in the ole chair and "read" about their tractor. I do agree , though , it's pretty low that they don't at least thank you for the offer. It is what it is! On a related issue , not many of us "old" folk will buy these "aftermarket" or "re-production" tractor parst either. There are still plenty of originals out there. I want a 60yr old fender on my 60 yr old tractor.

Today's Featured Article - Harvestin Hay: The Early Years (Part 2) - by Pat Browning. The summer of 1950 was the start of a new era in farming for our family. I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
