For various reasons, I've always used a reasonably good quality machinery enamel on my tractors. I've applied it by spray or roller for the tinwork, and brush for castings and small parts. I've had pretty good results but like any non-automotive type finish, the paint does get somewhat dull over time (even if it is stored inside or tarped). On the weekend I did a little experiment and used some automotive polish (Turtle Wax) on one panel. Boy, it really brought out a nice shine, looks like a brand new paint job. My question is, will applying wax keep the finish fresher and appearing shiny for any length of time, or will it dull off just like the original paint did? I'm a bit reluctant to do the whole thing if it's going to be a problem, especially if a guy wants to repaint some day. Any comments or suggestions???
