Big fan of Hustler mowers. Have six in our fleet at work. Bought the wife the homeowner grade for the yard. Built like a brick toilet house. Developed excessive pressure out of the oil fill tube and the vent on the crankcase pressure powered fuel pump spewed oil. After three tries they could not fix the problem. Did some research, found out these Briggs OHV engines have a bad habit of blowing head gaskets in the pushrod galley area. Called them back today to see if it was fixed yet (under warranty). The mechanic actually told me "It had a broken reed valve that we replaced!) I said "you must be thinking about somebody elses weedeater, this is a 4 stroke OHV Briggs and Stratton" He said "Nope, I'm talking about your mower" I've had a bunch of 2 stroke dirt bikes with reed valves, but a four stroke, no way! Is this some new technology or am I crazy?
