Rich, Here are my thoughts and they are a little more than thoughts. I purchased a 16 foot trailer with tandem axles. I loved it. It had two ramps that you pulled out of the side mount and placed them on the back of the trailer. I think you know the kind. I have some narrow front end tractors and had to build a ramp for the front wheels,and it worked ok except the original ramps were quite narrow. I was putting my Farmall A with wide front on the trailer, and I always back tractors onto trailer. Well you guessed it the back wheels were up on the trailer when the left front wheel slipped off the ramp. I didn't lose my tractor but I was in a mess and couldn't move the ramp back into position with the tractor in this mess. I finally got the tractor on the trailer. I was a nervous wreck. I took my trailer and had 2 ramps installed that lift up and hook into position for traveling. It was not cheap but at an age that I am it is very satisfying to know your are not going to slip off the ramps. I also had to legs put on the ramp to hold the trailer so it doesn't lift the truck up ao it may run off when backing tractor on trailer. I know this is a long follow up, but if it will deep someone from getting hurt or a tractor wrecked it will be worth it. One look out though is. it made the nose of trailer a little lighter. I have a big tool bos on front and with chains and binders and tools it doesn't bother at all. Good Luck
