You'll probably get better results asking this question over on the Farmall/IH board. I'm assuming what you're calling the exhaust hose is actually the air hose between the air cleaner and the carb. Getting gas into this location generally means either that your float valve won't shut off properly, or that you have the float level set too high. If you're not seeing gas coming out when the tractor is not running (with the gas valve open), the problem is probably the latter. Setting the float level to be lower in the bowl will quite likely fix your problem.
