Very OT: Stolen Stereo

Posted by Lanse on January 01, 2010 at 09:25:43 from (65.89.42.234):

This is kind of a long story.... That goes back a
while...

So, in probabally september or october of 2008,
our neighbors of all people wanted me to bushhog
their field... Its probabally about twenty acres
or so...

One sunny day the next weekend, i did...

But then no money seemed to show up... They "Just
diddnt have it right now" every time i asked...

I dont remember when this was, but i do remember
it was sunny and warm and the grass was growing
and there were leaves on the trees...

Then one snowy wintery day, they asked me if i
wanted a car stereo/CD player instead of money...

This was months later, and l had figured out l
wasnt getting any money... So i might as well take
the CD player... Its something... And it might
even cover the fuel I burned for these people if i
sold it..

So, I agreed and a few days later, my phone rang
and i went over and this really shady guy was
there with like a dozen of the things... The
neighbor told me to choose one and so l did and
headed back home.

I decided i was going to put it in my ranger
sometime...

And never really got to it.

I was talking to the neighbors one day when i
needed some money for something or other, and
asked if they wanted to buy it back by chance...
They declined and i said it was fine... Id
probabally just put it on ebay or craigslist...
And he then freaked out telling me not to, since
he "Diddnt know where it came from"...

He got arrested on drug charges shortly after...

That, and the screwdriver marks on the side of
this thing, and the wiring looking like it got a
good tug make it pretty clear where its from....

I feel like one of those people that just cant
catch a break, no matter what...

As if i dont allready have enough to worry
about...

I got ripped off, jipped, and mistreated so often
here when i would try to find some honest work to
do, that i just stopped trying... Thats one reason
my projects havent gotten very far lately...

But to top that all off now i have hot stuff in my
shop.

Id really like to take this to the dayton police
station and just give it to them, so hopefully it
could find its way back to its owner, but i
allready got ripped off by these a$$holes and
theres no way im getting arrested for them.

The other part of me says put a couple slugs
through it, toss it in a fire and bury it in the
back 40.

Any ideas?? What kind of trouble could i get into
for turning this in?? I had no idea it was stolen
when i got it....
