What do you suppose NH will do about this? Ofcourse they'll sit on the phone and listen, then promise to go play bad cop with the 'offender' while hoping they can direct the sale to another NH dealer. They'll probably send a rep out to 'investigate' it with the 'offending' dealer... and seriously? Nothing will come of it. Absolutely nothing. Mabey a lecture about being more carefull on handling these things.

While I don't think for a second that someone should be denied an operators manual, or that a tractor should run out of fuel 2 minutes off the truck, or that it should be delivered with a malfunctioning brake.... I can think of several plausible reasons for each that range from rushing to deliver, carelessness, forgetfullness, sloppiness right down to just being plain miserable.... or perhaps a combination of ALL of the ABOVE.
And what of it?
What would be more important to me is how these issues were dealt with afterwards. There's no feedback on that. Why?

The one thing that keeps irking me... if this just started out as being about an operators manual not being delivered the moment it was requested... it still seems to me to be a massive over reaction to a fairly minor issue. I mean, it's either much ado about little to nothing or there's a lot more going on in the background that any of us are aware of.
I don't view a book as a major issue. A lot of people I know would not view it as a major issue. The dealer probably did not view it as a major issue either.... so mabey they just didn't take him seriously when he demanded it be delivered with the tractor?
I mean... if someone said to me 'get me the book or the deal is off', I'd not take them too seriously. If they said 'look... this thing is really new to me and different... and I could really USE the book'... then I'd probably make an effort to get it right away, make some copies of an old one or make some kind of arrangement.
Was that the route here or was it just demanded be dammed or the deal is off?

Did the dealer offer to send someone out ASAP to fuel the tractor up and get it running or offer some suggestion on what might be done? Mabey dumping a can of fuel in and turning the key on for a minute is all that was required?
I ~could~ snicker about that too... but again, there's no indication given of what was offered, if anything, or what was requested.
I mean... at that point if someone called me with their fuse lit, threating to stop payment, etc... You know what? I'd probably just say f*** it.
I'm not noted for being too nice or taking too much crap from anyone and if that's what it came down to... that's probably how I'd react.... and indeed, that was more or less my original suggestion.

I can also tell you that my memory isn't what it used to be, and it was never very good back then... but I'd damn sure never forget a stunt like that. Ever. I've had some crap pulled on me by 'customers' over a lot less money when they were given exactly what they were promised, acted much the same as the tone I get from these threads, are and were never happy with anything that was done for them, screwed over every single person that ever dealt with them, and ON and ON. Honesty wasn't acceptable and more was never enough. So now... when they call... I just can't help them. I'm too busy. I don't have it. I can't get it. And I really don't care... and I'm no poorer for the lack of their 'business' either.

I'd really love to know what some of you guys would do if and when you actually have a major problem. It's for certain you don't keep any friends at the dealerships.
