Running a simple neat tidy multi conductor cable to the back of the rig is dead simple and cheap. A volt meter, oil pressure, fuel level and temp gauge won't be affected by cable length.
If you can find an old wrecked fire pumper truck. Every little thing you need for the dash instruments, remote indication already mounted, wiring harness and senders are all there.
