I posted this on the Deere board yesterday and didn't get any response,so I'll try it here. What would cause a 1020 gas Deere to only run while the ignition key is in the start position? It quit yesterday and would only run that way til after about a half dozen tries. It quit again later, but restarted and has been OK since. It did that once before, but it's been so long ago,I don't remember what I did to fix it. I'm thinking it must be the switch, but there's a relay or something next to the switch up under the dash. I've changed that in the past, but I don't remember why. When I did get it started the second time,it was with a jumper wire across that thing. Just coincidence? It's run OK since without the jumper wire. I was thinking there was something special about the coil on those too,but don't remember what it was.
