Well, I'm not exactly a farmer. Although I wouldn't mind it a bit. I love old iron, just about any color. I grew up working for my neighbors on their farms, during harvest season. My dad is an editor for the Progessive Farmer magazine which are more popularly know as "The Farmer" and the "Dakota Farmer". When I was a kid, I went on "interview" trips with him through the Dakotas and Minnesota- it was pretty neat seeing all the different farms and farmers my dad interviewed for stories in the magazines. My parent's homestead is near Fargo, ND, about 10 acres with the old "dutch style" barn and grainery buildings. We have run a hobby farm over the past 20 years ranging from canteloupe to pumpkins- which is now the main crop. We use '39 Farmall H for the hobby farm. It's been in the family since my grandpa bought it back in the 50's. We usually get a few looks from farmers as we drive the "H" to the pumpkin fields for some cultivating work- quite a site compared to their modern day equipment. I'm 27 now, living in St. Paul, working as a engineer, but I make it home often to keep that old H going. I just picked up a Farmall 300 to restore, and a Cockshutt 30 my dad doesn't know about yet.... Thanks for all the help and advice offered through this site!
