38 yrs old - Grew up as a logger's son running on a horse ranch in North Idaho (Priest Lake to Bonners Ferry area). We raised running AQHA horses on open range. Herd was generally 250+ mostly King, Leo and 3Bars brood mares & 5 studs.

Had the obligatory beef, hogs and chickens for the freezer. Best place we ever had was about 300 acres with a river running thru it. Never farmed while coming up, but always hayed in the summer and worked ranches for the big guys. Did my patriotic duty and left for the Navy in '80, got out after 1 tour. Now a Systems Mgr for large 3PL (whse & trucking) firm.

Currently own 35 acres of plantation pines (pulp wood) in NE FL bordered by Nat'l Forest and Timber companies. Chose pine trees since it is easier crop than farming. Very little maint., plant every 3 yrs. and just watch 'em grow. Land also has various wildlife food plots & 4acre fish pond recently stocked with bream, channel cat, coming this spring some FL bass.

Negotiating lease on another 25 acres behind me to try my hand at hobby farming (U-pick operation) blue berries, corn, beans, okra, spuds, tomatoes & pasture for the obligatory freezer beef/hog.

Got my wife, 2 boys (9&10), 22 American Bulldogs!!Rigs have always been CHEVY!! Tractors are a '67 Oliver 550 Dsl (iron hoss), '61 AC D10 Series II (mystery AC) & a '79 MF TLB. Daily commuter to day job, but labor of love is "working" my place.

Thanks to all for all I have learned from here and in the future - plan to draw on some of that farming experience!!!!
