I'm a Full Time Pilot. I farm my Dad's ground in my spare time. I grow hay because the deer eat too much of the other crops. My Grandfather was a dairy farmer in the Sixties and I was just far enough from the work that I never learned to hate it. When I look down on the fertile farms of Pennsylvania, I long to be farming Full Time. I'm sure the farmers I so envy would rather be making streaks in the sky. I burn my vacation in July to make small square bales of Timothy hay. It gives me such respect for those who work so hard on a daily basis. No kick balers for this Cowboy, I hump'm up like my Pap did in the old days. Let me add this: It is easy to see from the air how this old machinery gets worn out. The plows we see at auction have been dragged through miles of abrasive soil for years and years. The old machines that we mess with, some of which are in remarkably good condition, are a testiment to the forsight and ingeniuity of the AMERICAN'S who worked so hard to get this country where it is today. Do something today that will amaze someone fifty years from now, my Grandfather did.
