A good dog is a good dog no matter what the breed. We had a Lab for 14 years that protected all of us. There was never any doubt she would die defending any one of us. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for another. We had to have her put down a few years ago. We still miss her.
We could make a sandwich and leave it on rthe coffee table and go to the store and find it untouched when we arrived back home. She let the kids fall on her when they first started to walk and made a great backrest when the watched TV. She loved to retreive, and she whined and whimpered with excitement any time you drove past a lake.
I have three beagles and an English setter that I love dearly, but they're not like Molly was. If I try to take them for a walk off-leash all they want to do is hunt. Molly just liked to be along for fun.
