Doug, Then your problem could very well be hardness film as other posts are referring to or it could be soil build-up due to inadequate washing. if the film is mineral it will be removed easily by a dip in vinegar solution. For the sake of testing make a fairly strong vinegar water solution of very hot water and vinegar at about one cup vinegar to a cup of water. Immerse a few glasses for about 1 min then rinse in HOT water and let them air dry. if the film is gone when dry it is mineral film, and you need to get your softener serviced. If it is using the salt it has to be working but your water may have gotten harder with time and the time between regenerations may need to be shortened. post back with results of this test and I can give you some other things to check.
