I don't know if there is still a similar product out there now but in the body shop we used to use Kwik-Prep, which was a phosphoric acid metl treatment in an alchohol base. It held off the rusties for a few days and was easily applied with a spray bottle.I'm sure a body supply place can steer you right. There are etching primers available in spray can now that are neat for us piecemeal folks. Hopefully you have a dry warm place to store the unpainted parts.Get some good primer on them ASAP. I like epoxy primers but some others are also good. Do not spray a lacquer based primer and expect parts to stay rustfree. (Most places have stopped selling the lacquer primer surfacers as they are too polluting for EPA, but spray can primers are still lacquer based in many instances..If it says easy sanding and fast dry on the can and contains a large amount of toluene it's probably a lacquer spray primer.)
