1. As of now, only as an attachment. Don't open a message unless you know who it is from. 2. No, not now. All you can do is land up with a cookie so the web site can track your actions. 3. No, not now. If you type and send the e-mail, and don't add the virus infested attachment, the recepient won't be harmed. But, some viruses can take your address book and mail themselves to everyone you know without your involvement. 4. The anti-virus program can disable your internet connection. I use Norton Antivirus 2001, and the e-mail download real-time scan didn't work until it was updated by Norton. I used the words "not now" a lot, because virus builders are always looking for ways to do malicious deeds. Things can change. The only thing you can do to protect yourself is get a good anti-virus program, and keep it updated. The one I have updates itself when I go on-line. By the way, Microsoft's Explorer is easier to attack than Netscape because of its more "open architecture." - don't ask what I mean! If you use it, go to the Microsoft Security Advisor site and review it occasionally. By the way, downloading "free software" from a site you don't know is the easiest way to vaporize yourself.
