A virus has to be a program that runs for some reason on your computer. Generally it is an attachment of some type that you have to open up. With the intigration of software, such as the newer versions of Microsoft e-mail, spreadsheets, and html applications, it is possible for some non-exe programs to hook on and form a virus in your computer. So, it's hard to say never, but most all the time a virus comes as an attachment. I don't think you can get a virus by visiting a web site, but who knows what some high school kid will dream up next week??? :) There are all kinds of virui (viruses?), not just e-mail ones. You must have had one that travels with e-mail, and sends out copies of itself with every e-mail sent. These are the common ones now, but there are other types. How they spread depends on how they were written, so there is no one answer. The anti-virus program shouldn't have an effect on your internet connection. --->Paul
