You can measure with water. there are 231 cu in.. in one gl of water. 46,656 cu. in. in cu. yd. so if you fill bucket with 5 gl. pail just figure out how many gls or cu. in. of water. put the cu in. determined over 46,656 , and lower to lowest deniominator. that will be cu. yds. level bucket. have fun.
