Got my Dot number,not to long ago,it states, At least 1 chain for every 10 ft. of cargo, with a minumum of 2 chains.I usually put 1 chain across the belly of a small tractor, dot said i needed 2,they didn't care where, just 2 chains.By the way,the last trucker who hauled for me stole the hole seat off my jd 430 tractor,Good Luck.
