Well I tore the whole tractor in half and pulled off the rear casing-down inside towards the bottom was a broken 30 tooth gear that engaged the 4 wd in and out. Two teeth were broken-it must have been the pieces jamming in the other gears- I washed it all out-the only problem about getting it back is the preload calculations have me a bit baffled-but I should get by.Also for the record-I called down to PA. for the part-its only a 3 or 4 inch gear they want$224.00 for it. Just for comparison I called Kubota and their reply was that that is what there's would go for as well- so I guess that not all satoh parts are outrageous and not all are difficult to get. Now when doing bushhogging with a 4 ft bushog should I always be in the lowest gear goin slow? and I probably shifted into 4 wd without letting it mesh in completely-are there any other suggestions about how the gear broke---thanks so much again- Jasper James.
