Whenever I sell something, I usually have to filter through 30-40 people before I find a buyer. Most of those are just low-ballers who email an offer without ever having seen what I am selling. Others, without ever having seen the item, email or call and claim they will show up at such and such a time, payment in hand. 99% never show, and the 1% that do usually don't end up buying. And yet others waste their time (and mine), by coming to look at the item, then either make an offer and disappear, or just plain disappear.
I have long since learned that a serious buyer will ask lots of meaningful questions, set up a date and time to which they show, carefully look the item over, and then either make a reasonable offer or straight up tell you they don't want it, and walk away.
