I am in need of a new career, I've been self employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for 13 years, except for a 1 year hiatus when I worked for Bobcat but still as a mechanic.
Getting more evident everyday that the technology has passed me by and people is not going to fix the old stuff forever.
If the good Lord is willing and I live till next Wednesday I'll be 39. I lost my wife a couple months ago, she left me with a 12 year old and a newborn so it's important to me to remain self employed at least until the little one starts school.
A tech school pretty close to me has a marine mechanics course that should include general small emgines, I'm thinking about this but I'm 25+ miles away from a sizeable body of water and you can buy a new weedeater for less than $100.
They also offer a motorcycle mechanics course that would include ATV's, there is only 1 dealer in town and 1 other independent guy I know of that does this. Dont really care for the 2 wheelers but I like 4 wheelers.
Anything else I should be thinking of? I enjoy fixing things, already have tools, equipment and shop. More ideas?
