That makes sense. The company that built the trailer used a leaf spring which is fastened with the bolt at the front, but instead of shackles it has a loop to prevent excessive movement of the spring away from the trailer frame. The spring is made with a flat side to slide against the underside of the trailer rather then shackles to hold the springs positively. I've been hauling scrap metal to sell, but before I buy a tractor to haul around I would like to fix the problem. Thanks. Dennis Benson
