Gary,
How deep does the ground freeze there? Daughter didn't know.Daughter came down for visit to see her new niece, naturally the weather turned chilly. On the bright side, we had 2 1/4 inches of rain and are actually above average for year, right now.
Crop report: went to Charleston bridge walk(6.2 miles on bridge over harbor and downtown streets). Farmers in eastern part of state which is less that 200 feet above sea level and warmer that here in upstate SC are behind plowing and planting due to wet weather. Saw one field of no till corn up about 3 inches. I want to plant corn in garden now but it is too wet. Dairymen near me have good crops of small grain and are grazing some of it. Wheat just about to head out.
BTW for spring oats to work here they have to be planted in January and the yield is usually much reduced. I just put nitrogen on a field of volunteer oats and ryegrass, $394 per ton.
