Hello everyone, I am new to the board. I just purchased a Ford 4000 HD Industrial Model 4140D (41400D serial 55481). This tractor has a messed up 4-speed transmission. The guy told me he was bushhogging with it and lost second gear, and kept using it until he locked the whole transmission up. I took the top cover off and looks like some teeth are missing on what I believe to be second gear. I am wondering the best way to replace the gear or gears. I think pulling the engine would be a good start, but what do you guys think? I have never rebuilt a transmission, but I am going to try. I do have access to a 801 transmission that has the same casting number, on a tractor I bought for parts, but don't want to tear it apart unless I have to. The 4140 does have the sherman transmission in front and the handle is broken off, could be from being cut off to fit under the steering arm, I don't know, but I couldn't get it to move, back and forth. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Matt_G
