I think you would be better off taking a systemeatic approach. When you say doesn't hold a charge, what do you mean? Start it up, let it idle, with a voltmeter hooked to the terminals. watch as ou increase the throttle, and see wether it is capable of charging. If it's not charging, we'll go from there. If it is, shut tractor off, disconnect the negative lead, and measure the resistance across the positive and negative leads (not the battery). there should be an open circuit with the key off, but if there isn't that is why your tracotr isn't holding a charge. Once you've checked these two conditions, we'll go from there. Also, post this stuff on the N board. there are far more experienced people than me, and will definately solve your problems.
