I do think the 24T is a lighter baler than the 14T. I know for sure that the axles are lighter and the wagon pull hitch is lighter, and the pickup assembly is lighter. That old 14T was a heavy monster.
I just checked my 24T JD owner's manual, and it shows the 24T - twine tie with PTO drive to be 2406 lbs.
I was sure happy to have moved up from the 14T to the 24T, big difference. But then the next move was to the 327 and 328. Both the 327 and 328 have such high carbon steel in many places that it is too brittle and cracks from vibration or flexing. The 24T was a very good compromise between strength and weight.
