This pump is not sold by ford tractor dealers but the individual parts are, very expensive. I have a 54 fordson major that needed this pump. By luck I discovered the same pump in a Triumph car parts catalog. The TR6 used it. I bought one for around 50 bucks. The actuation lever was a little different so I switched it from the old pump (The supplied one probably would have worked). I dont know if the 56 used the same pump. this pump has a glass bowl and a manual pick up lever on it. The top halve of the pump had to be rotated 180 degrees also. Niether of these mods were difficult. About 15 minuets worth. Well worth the money to stop the constant diesel leak. The Major is a great tractor but the parts can be a problem. Ford/new holland dealers can get many of them but the prices are outragous on some items, others are very resonable. I always check with the dealer first then look for other options if the price is crazy.
