I was in your exact position a year and a half ago. While the AC B and the Farmall A are nice machines, you'd be much better off with a Ford N series. They have a three point hitch that will lift a big implement, are low to the ground (safer on hills), easy to drive.

Plus they're popularity makes almost every part easily available rather cheaply. Just go tyo Central Tractor, and look at the number of parts availabe. I grew up loving AC's, but I had to admit, from a utility point of view, that 2N is a way better tractor for my needs. I have a neighbor with a AC b with a three point hitch conversion, and it won't even lift a mower. As for live hydraulics or PTO, it would probably bump you up to a higher price, although an AC CA gives you sort of live PTO, with a hand clutch, and these are in your price range. That's about the only vintage tractor that I might think about.

As for rototilling and snow blowing, these old tractors just weren't designed with slow enough gearing to make that practical. I use a back blade on my 2N, and it works great. Newer tractors with hydrostatic tranny's allow you to creep slowly at high RPM's.

I have a 5' brush Hog, a 6" finish mower (rear three point hitch mount), a 6 foot back blade, a three point hitch rear scoop (handiest thing...throw that wheel barrow away...saves your back. My wife always has me mulching, moving rocks, etc....very handy).

I looked into getting a belly mount mower, but you sort of need a dedicated tractor for that, because mounting it is difficult, and then the three point hitch is tied up lifting the mower through a pulley arangemnt. It turns out with a 6 foot mower, my 2N works as a great mowing machine. I wouldn't switch to a belly mount after learning to "waggle" that mower under fences, etc......I go arount the yard once and then my wife takes over.

Good Luck
